Long Night of Science 2019
Long Night of Science (Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften) 2019
On 19th of October 2019, the “Long Night of Sciences“ took place in Erlangen, Fürth and Nürnberg for the 9th time. The MD and PhD students of the GRK2162 had their own booth in the Palmaria and shared amazing facts about the brain with the public from 6 pm to 1 am. The GRK2162 students answered many questions with a lot of passion and patience about neuroscience, their projects and experiments and the GRK2162. The visitors had furthermore the chance to challenge their sense of taste in a self-experiment and experience the texture of a brain. With the aid of models, the GRK students explained the anatomy of nerve cells and synapses and how the different areas of our brain work. The visitors could test their newly acquired knowledge in a quiz and were rewarded with delicious sweets in the shape of little brains. There was a large crowd of visitors of each age group during the whole evening and night. Especially the self-experiment, the quiz and the brain models attracted many visitors who were introduced to the exciting field of neuroscience in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. The overall feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The GRK2162 is looking forward to the next “Long Night of science” in 2021.
